Submitting a photo - guidelines
- The photo must be of a person from Toronto (how do I prove this? Well, I gotta trust you!).
- The photo should be of high quality and in colour for best results.
- Can be sent in jpeg/psd/bmp/tiff/ping or giff formats.
- Head and shoulder shots requested (for this project), 8x10 if possible, with highest possible resolution (200dpi).
- Think about lighting - from the side and from above and use natural lighting if possible (this emphasizes the natural contrasts and colours).
- The pose should be natural - but remember, it's your portrait - I'd like to see you BEING YOU! If you want to smile broadly, laugh loudly, hide behind a book or flower...it's up to you! Remember, I will be interpreting the photo for the Portrait Project in my way - and there may be some differences as I try to reflect your personality in whatever medium I decide to use.
- Submitting a photo confirms your permission to reproduce the photo in a portrait format and to use the created image on this website and in other printed promotional material. The submission is in essence a 'release' form confirming the artist is free to use the photo and is free from liability.
- Photos will not be returned.
- You will not necessarily be advised if your photo will be used in the Portrait Project or not.
